Home Confinement

About Home Confinement

In the mid 1980's the State of West Virginia, under the direction of the State Supreme Court of Appeals, implemented the Home InCarceration Act, also to be known as the Home Confinement Program. The concept of home confinement is to provide offenders, and those awaiting bond the opportunity and privilege of living at home in a strictly monitored and supervised environment in lieu of being incarcerated for their offense. This program gives them the opportunity and ability to be able to work, be with their families, and become productive members of society.

The Kanawha County Home Confinement Program is by far the largest in the state, supervising the monitoring of an average of 165 clients and currently monitoring 183 clients. The Home Confinement staff consists of a director, six full time field officers, and a secretary.
