10:45a.m.

Kanawha County Officials have been working with officials from the Governor Tomblin’s Office this morning to schedule water distribution for Kanawha County for today. At this time, the Governor Tomblin’s Office has arranged for 3 tractor trailers of water to be delivered to the Kanawha County Courthouse for distribution. The distribution site will open at 12:00 noon on Goshorn Street, which can be accessed from Virginia Street, by turning left on Goshorn before the Courthouse. The Water Distribution site will remain open until 5:00 p.m. or until the trucks are empty.

Commission President Kent Carper stated, “At this time, this will likely be the final day for water distribution in Kanawha County as federal resources have been exhausted. I would like to take this time, to thank Governor Tomblin and his staff, General Hoyer and the National Guard, our Volunteer Fire Departments, Local Police Departments, Mayors, Sheriff Rutherford’s Office, the State Police and the many community organizations that have assisted in the distribution, of this much needed water, to the public.”

Kanawha County Commissioners, Kent Carper, Henry C. Shores and Dave Hardy have requested that Kanawha County Emergency Management Staff work with the State of WV to continue to request bottled water to be distributed throughout Kanawha County. "As long as bottled water is provided to Kanawha County through FEMA, the Kanawha County Commission will work to have distribution centers open for our citizens to access," stated Commissioner Shores.

Commissioner Shores further stated, "I have asked our Emergency Staff to work with community groups and Churches throughout the County to open additional distribution sites for this weekend."

The list of additional distribution centers for Kanawha County are currently being developed and will be released once all information is complete.
